Shopping in Songtan

I know some of you are dying for pictures from my parents' trip, so here are a few from Monday. We went shopping in Songtan, the town just off the base.

Here we are in one of the purse shops. You can see the crack in the wall in front of my mom. That is actually a hinged door. It is a trap door in the wall of the store that leads you downstairs to "the good purses." When you go down the cellar steps, you are in a room with more purses. From there, there is another secret door leading to yet another inner sanctum. No, they are not stolen....just really good knock offs that would not pass inspection because of copyright laws.

Here is a view in one of the markets.

My parents were amazed by this bowl of chicken feet. They begged me to buy some for dinner, but I had to say no...bah ha ha!!!

This is the main strip in the shopping district.

Fish...and lots of kim chi

The "nutty Nolts" even found some walnuts in Korea.

mmmmm good.....NOT!!!

I so want to browse through that inner sanctum!

The chicken feet scared me. Never seen those before.

I love the toilet sign behind your parents on the street! That made me laugh.

Looks like they're having a great time!

And Happy Birthday to Adeline. I meant to email you yesterday and forgot! Happy Birthday, sweet girl! :)

I love seeing the shopping district. It looks like fun, everything but the chicken feet!

Wow, what an adventure. The food, well, not so much. But I agree with Sarah - I'm all about the purses!

BTW, just noticed the new additions to your sidebar - the avatar and map. Very cool!

Looks like fun. I can't wait to show my family all "sights" as well! Ooohh, and look at more purses.

Ahhhh...chicken feet. That brings back memories! While in Honduras 12 years ago we played a joke on one of our teammates and bought a package containing chicken neck, innards, and feet (still with the claws)and told her she had to use that for her dinner that night. She was horrified. We had a back-up of course.

My daughter just loves Kim Chi. She is dating a Korean and loves all the Asian food. She works at a Japanese restaurant and loves their food, too.

Looks like everyone was having a great time.

Why no chicken feet for dinner? BAHahahahahahaha

Too funny about your parents begging for chicken feet!! I was trying to figure out what all that food was on the bottom picture, but I'm still not sure.

I'm glad you're having such fun.
