Heidi told me this would happen...

Heidi, you warned me.  When my baby was tiny and I had such fun getting her dolled up in girly cuteness, you told me to enjoy it then because a day would come when she wouldn't wear whatever I choose.  Well, Addie is under the weather today (a cough that sounds like she's been smoking for 20 years, a runny nose, and a fever), and so I thought she may enjoy wearing this fuzzy sweatshirt and comfy pants.  I, of course, got out the coordinating purple socks.  She INSISTED she wanted to wear blue socks today.  And she is so proud.  She periodically looks down at her feet and says, "Blue socks!"  I just hope she doesn't get used to this choose what to wear thing...just yet.

First socks...., then the whole outfit. See if you can have her hold on a few more months. Good thing you have another baby in the oven.

As the kids multiply, you will begin to lose complete control. Today, Logan wore an Eagles jersey and white shirt that he pulled out of the laundry. I didn't realize this until he came home from school. And sadly, I pulled a shirt out of Gabriella's laundry just so she could match her American Girl doll for show and tell today. I, however, am wearing clean clothing. But, tomorrow is another day....

You do know that all of us "old" Mom's are laughing at you, don't you? You can wish all yo want, but Adeline will soon want to pick out all her clothes!

Today, Amelie wore to school a blue and green striped shirt, a red skirt, brown tights, and pink boots (As you know, it was 60 degrees.) I personally LOVE seeing a little girl that has clearly dressed herself and is expressing her own sense of style. I also love not having to physically pick out one child's clothing nor physically help her dress. I've got two others to deal with in that regard! Maybe, as you have more kids, your priorities will change. Just maybe=).

I hope her sickness isn't a result of playing with Rock! My mom always gave us options and we picked which one we wanted to wear... She wouldn't have let us out of the house in something that didn't go together (of course, if Adeline was sick, you weren't leaving the house anyway). In a way, I think that wasn't cool... but in a way I'm glad I don't have as many embarrassing photos of when I would dress myself. I can sympathize with both you (wanting her to look put together) and Nancy (wanting Amelie to express herself through clothes). Good thing I don't have to fight this battle just yet. And for the record, her matching could have been a heck of a lot worse. At least they are in the same color spectrum.

Just wait until she's in grade school and INSISTS on doing her own new hairdo (and dressing herself)! I'm speaking from personal experience of course--I should really find those pictures now and burn them! :oP

My daughter wants to wear her pajamas all day...hmmmm, can you tell we're getting a bit lax around here the days we don't leave the house? I reason there are more important things in the works. Like getting this baby boy OUT o' me! :o)

That first part of my comment was in reference to picture day in particular!

Where is my brain?

I personally am happy if my boys have pants AND socks on. No matter that N is wearing his rocket shirt for the umteenh time in a row and little e is living in his Mickey Mouse shirt. If they don't have dried food on them, I call it fair game... as long as there are pants AND socks.

The comments crack me up. Give up this battle now. Give. It. Up. Encourage her independence and be proud that she has a brain to make her own (some of them anyway) decisions. Looking forward to seeing you at Christmas. Hope you can show up this time!!

Ah, the joys of independence! Just think, it could have been a lot worse of a color choice. I can empathize with you a little bit, though I think girls might be a little more determined on clothing choices and independence!
