She's down for the count...

That's what I get...A friend recently told me it was time for me to post again.  The thing is, there just haven't been that many blog worth events here recently.  We've done some fun social things (dinner with friends Saturday night sans kids, and Superbowl party with the same friends on Sunday with kids), but I didn't take pictures and well....NEVER, I repeat NEVER say you are lacking in blogging material because you never know where such a statement might lead.

I was helping a patient get washed up in her bathroom this morning (I'm an occupational therapist for those who don't know), and I started feeling a bit warm.  Then, that wave came over me that warns you that you better sit down.  I ignored said warning because I have never passed out before, and I really wanted to finish this treatment.  I probably should have thought this through better BEFORE finding myself on the floor.  Yep, I passed out!  I didn't lose consciousness and immediately said, "I'm okay".....and then proceeded to fall again when I tried to stand up too quickly.  My poor patient was quite shaken at the thought that her pregnant therapist just landed on the floor.  I bumped my cheek, but have no other battle wounds of note.  Baby is kicking all over the place...

I drank some water (I think I was dehydrated) and ate some nuts (for protein), and I did fine the rest of the day.  I've felt lightheaded a few other times with this pregnancy, and Patrick tells me it is quite common in pregnancy.  Anyone else out there have this experience?  I'll be sure to pay better attention to those warning signs in the future.

You really don't have to go to such extremes to post something! I never had this but I've known others who did. Glad you and baby are okay!

Oh, the lengths some people go to just to have new blog material! :)

That's such a terrible feeling. I've passed out twice in my life, and I, too, ignored the warning signs. I now obey the warning signs, and I'm sure you will, too, from now on!

I had problems with dizziness while pregnant, but never passed out then. I just made sure to drink lots of fluids and make sure I wasn't standing still in one spot for too long.

Totally had this with Collin. I thought that it was a low blood sugar thing, because I always felt better when I ate something. I never actually passed out, but I go the dizzy/ shaky thing many times.

Oh my goodness!

I about passed out with Landon once. I was in a meeting standing up and could tell I was going to topple if I didn't find a chair and sit down fast.

I am glad you were not hurt... take care of yourself!

Wow, I bet you (and your patient) were a little shaken up. I passed out when I was pregnant with N and they took the like seven vials of blood from me at the beginning of my pregnancy. I totally passed out in the chair. I had to fill out an "incident report" for the lab... lovely.

Did they check your iron count recently. I have to take tons of extra iron to prevent that feeling and blacking out!!!

So glad you are OK!

Wow, Lynn, hopefully now you are feeling less light-headed. I never had this issue, but I wonder if between being sick like you were and being pregnant your body just needed a little more than it had. It must be very relieving that Patrick is a doctor -- how wonderful to have that kind of knowledge in the house!
