I guess it will be emeralds...

We have a tradition in our house.  When a baby is born, mommy gets a piece or set of jewelry in his/her birthstone.  We plan to give said jewelry to that child for some right of passage to still be determined....16th birthday, graduation from high school, college graduation, etc.  Adeline has a lovely Amethyst necklace and earring set.  Every time I wear it, I think about her coming into the world and how blessed I am to be entrusted with her care.

At my midwife apt on Tuesday, I was 4 cm dilated!  AND the baby's head is even with my pelvis (station 0 for those who understand such things).  I started getting excited for an April birth (DIAMONDS) instead of May, but seeing as it is May 1 and I am still pregnant, it looks like emeralds will be the stone for this little one.

It could be any day.  Keep praying!

I love the idea of jewelry to celebrate the birth of a child...think it would work for a son, too? I guess it would be something he could share with a future wife...Anyway, waiting to hear the great news!

Yay - you're making progress! I, too, was kind of hoping for diamonds last year, but I love my emerald birthstone in my mother's necklace now.

Praying for all of you and can't wait to hear some news!

You should have more babies in February -- Amethyst is one of the cheapest birthstones! :) But emeralds are very pretty too! Can't wait to see HIM (again, I'm predicting boy) soon. Or her. For the record, I'll be equally excited about a girl!
